This 2024 series of mixed media art was created from a space of grief over the violence and destruction we exert onto our Mother Earth. We have lost a capacity to intuit and feel in our modern societies, ruled by the head and extractive and disconnected logic in service of (monetary) growth, we tend to push our feelings away and we keep projecting into the ‘story of progress’. This idea (and execution) of limitless growth on a planet with finite resources is destroying Earth. We all know it ..and sense it. But do we allow ourselves to really feel it….? and what would that mean..? For me this became very important in 2024 and i started allowing myself the deep grief of all the loss and pain around our relationship with Earth. Understanding that in order to fully love and respect her and our relation, i need to also truly feel the pain. It is a holistic relationship and we cannot skip over the unpleasant feelings. We also don’t want to wallow in them and stay in the grief. We have to hold all the paradox and keep a soft and open heart.
